Privacy Policy

Information you give us

• Callback and contact requests: your name, phone number, the best time to call and your message.
• Renting a unit: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, driver's license number and issuing state, the unit you choose, your move-in date and your protection plan choice.
• Your online account: your email address and password, plus any changes you make to your contact details or text message preference.
• Payments: your card or bank account details (see Payment information below).

We use your driver's license to confirm who is renting the unit. It goes straight to our property management system and isn't kept by this website.

Payment information

When you pay online, your card number, expiration date and security code (or your bank routing and account numbers) travel over an encrypted connection through our website to our property management system, SiteLink, and its payment processor, which complete the payment. This website does not store your full card number, security code or bank account number, and never writes them to a log.

We keep a record of each payment made on this site: the amount, what it paid for, the date, and the card brand or account type with only the last four digits.

If you choose to save your card or turn on automatic payments, your payment details are stored by SiteLink and its payment processor, not on this website, so later payments can be charged. You can turn automatic payments off in your account or by calling us.

We handle card data under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Information collected automatically

When you visit, our servers and our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, receive technical details such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and when. We use them to run the site, keep it secure and stop abuse. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address.

We don't use advertising cookies or third-party ad tracking on this site.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work:

• A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in to your account for up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
• A checkout cookie that lasts 5 minutes and keeps your name, contact details and address if a form needs correcting. It never holds payment details, your driver's license or your password.
• Security cookies set by Cloudflare, including for the bot check on our forms (Cloudflare Turnstile).

You can block cookies in your browser, but signing in and renting online won't work without them.

How we use your information

• To rent you a unit, run your rental and give you access to it.
• To process payments, including automatic payments you sign up for.
• To verify your identity and prevent fraud.
• To answer your questions and call you back when you ask us to.
• To send messages about your rental and account, such as confirmations, lease signing links, receipts, password resets and important notices.
• To tell you now and then about changes to our facilities or services. You can opt out of these at any time.
• To keep the site secure, fix problems and improve it.
• To meet our legal obligations and enforce our rental agreements.

How we share information

We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only:

• With companies that run parts of our business for us: SiteLink (property management, payments and lease signing) and its payment processor, Cloudflare (website hosting and security), Resend (email delivery) and our gate access provider. They may use it only to provide their services to us.
• When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of PIP Storage, our customers or others, including enforcing a rental agreement.
• With a buyer or successor if our business or a facility is sold or transferred.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you rent from us and afterward for as long as we need it for accounting, tax, legal and dispute purposes. Callback requests and website records are kept only as long as they're useful for those purposes.

Security

The whole site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and we use security monitoring and limit who on our team can see customer information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and keep it private.

Your choices

• Update your contact details and text message preference any time on your account's profile page.
• Opt out of non-essential email with the unsubscribe link in that email. We'll still send messages about your rental and account.
• Ask us to show you, correct or delete your information by contacting us. We may need to keep some records, for example while you have an active rental or for legal and accounting reasons.

Children

This site is meant for adults. You must be 18 or older to rent a unit, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Other sites

You sign your lease on SiteLink's secure signing page, and some links lead to other sites such as Google or piprental.com. Their own privacy policies apply there.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the date at the top of this page.
